OPEN CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR THE 8TH FULL CONTACT AND FULL CONTACT AWARD SCAN TARRAGONA 2025

An event for emerging artists who view photography as an essential and preferred means of expression.


SCAN Tarragona, the international photography festival organised by the Tarragona City Council, is once again presenting FULL CONTACT, an event that aims to support emerging artists who consider photography to be an essential and preferred means of expression and to offer them a professional meeting point where they can connect with stakeholders from the art world.

What is FULL CONTACT?

It’s a professional event, and, at the same time, an innovative vision of the portfolio. It’s a forum that’s both practical and a place to build connections in which the group of selected emerging artists can present their photographic projects to professionals from the world of photography and the visual arts (the ‘followers‘). All the artists who take part in Full Contact can receive feedback on their work, expand their network of contacts and possibly launch joint projects with other artists or stakeholders from the art world.

What makes FULL CONTACT unique?

  1. FULL CONTACT is the ideal photographic portfolio viewing to make your work known among the agents of the art world ( followers ), of recognized prestige, that SCAN invites.
  2. FULL CONTACT creates a space with a comfortable, friendly and relaxed atmosphere that promotes trust and human relationships between artists and followers .
  3. SCAN is a festival for the general public that provides a forum for up-and-coming artists to present their work. Participating artists do not pay a registration or entry fee.
  4. If your project is selected you will be eligible for the FULL CONTACT 2025 Award.

FULL CONTACT Award

  • From all artists selected to participate in FULL CONTACT, a qualified jury appointed by SCAN will select one artist as the winner of the FULL CONTACT 2025 Award.
  • The prize consists of the production of a solo exhibition in 2026, within the framework of the official SCAN program.
  • The selected artist will receive €900 (including tax) for the exhibition and communication rights to their work.
  • The artist will also receive advice and support from SCAN in accordance with the technical and financial means available to the festival to hold the exhibition.
  • In order for Tarragona City Council to make the payment, each artist must present the documentation required by the SCAN organisation.
  • All invoicing procedures will be carried out in accordance with the legislation applicable to Spanish administrations.

FULL CONTACT data
On October 11, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the Teatret del Port, in the fishing district of Serrallo in Tarragona.

Who can apply to take part in FULL CONTACT?
Persons of legal age who are residents of any country of the European Union or the United Kingdom.

What kinds of projects can be submitted?

The festival’s aim is to promote visual storytelling among emerging artists. With this in mind, any photo series that tells a story may be submitted.
The series can be on any subject.

How many winning projects will there be?
 The curatorial team will select the 15 best projects, whose authors will be invited to participate in the 8th edition of FULL CONTACT .

Who is on the jury that selects the projects?
The jury will consist of Sema D’Acosta (independent curator) and Sonia Berger (founder and director of Dalpine). Their decision will be final.

About followers (art world agents )
 Around twenty agents from the art world will participate, including independent curators, management teams from other photography festivals, publishers and gallery owners. The names will be announced during the month of July on the festival website.

How to submit a project registration form Registration Form
Projects should be submitted with the entry form.
The registration form must contain the following information:

  1. Personal contact details
  2. A brief biography
  3. The title of the project
  4. A brief explanation of the project (300 words)
  5. A .zip file (max. 30 MB) with a maximum of 16 photographs from the same series. The digital photographs must be a minimum of 2,000 pixels on the shortest side and be in .jpg format. If they wish, artists may include a PDF with complementary information to facilitate the jury’s understanding of the project.

Projects in Catalan, Spanish and English will be accepted.

What will the artists selected receive?

  • Invitation to attend the FULL CONTACT conference as a guest artist. Lunch included.
  • Individual table at FULL CONTACT to show the project to agents in the art world.
  • Promotion and exposure of the projects and the artists on the website scan.cat
  • Invitation to the inaugural events of the SCAN Tarragona Festival, which will be held on October 10, 2025 at Tinglado 2 of the Port of Tarragona.

Copyright and communication rights
The rights of the exhibited works belong to their creators, who will temporarily cede the rights of public communication to SCAN for the purpose of promoting the event through any official festival channel or via the press.

Obligations of artists
 When artists agree to participate in FULL CONTACT , they de facto commit to attending the activity in person on the announced day.

Final considerations
 The SCAN organization will resolve any aspect not provided for in these rules and its decisions will be final. Participation in the FULL CONTACT call obliges all people who send their file to accept these rules.
